P. R. Ravi Mohan is a highly accomplished banking and financial sector expert with extensive experience spanning over four decades in regulation, supervision and international financial systems. He holds a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Kerala and an MBA in International Banking & Finance with distinction from the University of Birmingham, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

He began his career with the Reserve Bank of India in 1984 and held several key leadership positions including Chief General Manager-in-Charge of Banking Supervision and Regional Director. He played a pivotal role in introducing risk-based supervision in Indian banking, implementing norms, and strengthening regulatory and supervisory frameworks. He also represented India in various committees of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) and contributed significantly to accounting and financial reporting standards.

Internationally, he served with the International Monetary Fund as Resident Advisor (AFRITAC South), supporting 13 Sub-Saharan African countries in enhancing financial stability, corporate governance, and regulatory systems. Post-retirement, he has continued to contribute as an Independent Director and Chairman at leading institutions including ESAF Small Finance Bank and serves on the boards of reputed organizations such as Maithon Power Limited.
